October Prayer Focus for Parents: Putting on the Whole Armor of God

prayer focus

I have been trying hard to memorize Ephesians 6:10-17 this summer which begins “Be strong in the LORD, and in His mighty power. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” We can pray this for ourselves and our children as well as intentionally teach our children how to do this so they can stand strong with God andfor God.

Memorizing scripture is one way to put on the whole armor of God as is reading the Bible daily. Ephesians 6:17 tells us that the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Make sure that your child has a Bible of their own that matches their current reading and comprehension level. Use a prayer journal with your children to record the way God answers prayers and to pray for each other. Make worship a priority in your household and evaluate all activities with your child in the light of God’s love. Talk about who God is constantly with your children and show them with your actions (Deuteronomy 6:7). “He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psalms 91:4
