Last winter I passed an older lady pedaling a bike as I drove to school each day. She was bundled up against the cold and rode most mornings in darkness. I started praying for her each day and missed her on days she wasn’t out (which caused me to pray even more for her). This fall I caught sight of her again pedaling away in the heat and was excited to see her.
Through this time of prayer I learned a little bit about how God sees each one of us: precious, unique, irreplaceable, and traveling a rough road each day. He wants us to see each other this way too and to treat each other accordingly. Seeing through His eyes is not easy and impossible without the Holy Spirit guiding us. Praying for each other helps us all on our journey and draws us closer to our Heavenly Father. And as the old hymn exclaims, “What a privilege to carry everything (and everyone) to God in prayer!” “To pray for others means to make them part of ourselves.” Henri Nouwen
“I have a lifelong vocation now before me in learning how to find Christ in every single person whom I meet.” Anne Rice
