If you play an instrument or sing and would like to participate in worship services as a soloist or in an ensemble, contact Gale Price or Gale Heard.
As support for our worship services, FUMC’s Music Ministry locates and secures volunteer technicians to provide sound support for both the 8:30 and the 10:45 Worship Services. Video projection for Praise and Worship songs is used each week. Videos to enhance worship and to illustrated activities of the church are also projected.
No previous experience is required. Contact Gale Price @ 623-3580 to volunteer for this valuable ministry.

Come join the First United Methodist Church Handbell Choir. The ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in Room 311. Ninth grade students through adult are invited. For more information, contact Cheryl Jackson at 626-3644 or cheryl.jackson@eku.edu
LoveNotes Children’s Choir began meeting on September 10th. We (children in grades K – 5th grade) meet every Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in the adult Choir Room. We are working on several praise songs for Children’s Sabbath on October 12 and have started working on a Christmas musical. The musical has speaking parts, musical solos, dance movements and great costumes. There is something for every child in this production. It tells the Christmas story from the angels perspective. Each angel wants to be “the one” to bring the good news of Jesus’ birth to earth. We hope to perform this musical for the community as well as our church family.
LoveNotes children’s choir isn’t about perfect singing, diction, or learning the most and the hardest songs. It’s about giving children words of joy, praise and love so they can grow closer to the Lord. These words will be on their lips forever. LoveNotes also gives children a chance to participate in worship and minister to others through their music. Only children have the innocence and purity to lead others.
Give your children this chance to grow in the Lord while they minister to others. We have lots of empty chairs. Miss Susan and I would love to have them all filled. Join us soon.
Miss Donna
All of us in the Music Ministry are busy preparing for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. I want to invite you to join with us to minister God's love to our church family. Music is remarkable in bringing soothing relief to the human soul and spirit. Certainly the message and person that we sing and play about is the only answer for a world rocking on its axis. We have opportunities for every age level. For children we have LoveNotes, for youth we have the Youth Praise Team and some are participating in the choir. For adults we have the Handbell Choir, the Adult Praise Team and the Adult Choir. We also have opportunities for soloists, both instrumental. DON'T MISS OUT. COME AND JOIN US!
We rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7:30–8:30 pm. We sing in both the 8:30 am Traditional Service as well as the 10:50 am "Blended Service". The Choir gives singers the opportunity to share their faith in leading our church family in worship. We sing a variety of music from Classics to Contemporary. We have even tried Bluegrass" during a special Sunday Worship Service! We also prepare cantatas and special music for special services during the year (i.e. Christmas and Easter seasons.)
Our music uses the full blend of voices: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. When we share our faith with music, we have the unique privilege to sing with Heart, Soul, Mind and Spirit. Come join us.
The Praise Team is comprised of both instrumentalists and singers. We lead in worship during the Blended 10:45 Service. Because it is a blended service, we use both traditional hymns (often in a contemporary style) and praise choruses. We practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:25 pm.
Since 1992 the First United Methodist Church Handbell Choir has provided the congregation and the community – far and wide with music of worship and celebration. The handbell choir performs on five octaves of handbells and three octaves of handchimes. The fourth and fifth octaves of handbells, the handchimes and all the equipment and supplies that support the handbell choir have been provided through contributions and donations. The handbell choir has presented worship music for our own congregation throughout the past 15 years. We have additionally provided worship service music for a variety of churches in Richmond, Berea, Lexington and Sadieville.
The handbell choir requires at least a minimum of thirteen ringers to fully incorporate the full five octaves of handbells. Enthusiastic, basic music readers are welcome to join at any time – the fundamentals of the actual ringing process can be quickly learned. All ages are welcome, too. Contact Gale Price for information about the handbell choir at music@richmondfumc.org or 623-3580.
The Youth Praise Team leads the Youth Group in contemporary worship. If you are interested in playing or singing, please contact Jamie Jordan, Youth Director at 623-3580 or youth@richmondfumc.org This is a great opportunity to learn as you go.
