MEMBERSHIP IN THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST OF RICHMOND

In addition to Associate and Affiliate membership described in "How to Join our Church Without Joining" featured on this page, we encourage those seeking to become members to participate in the "Exploring Membership and Ministry"” class offered throughout the year. The class provides information about our rich denominational heritage, who we are as a church, what we believe, how we are structured, and what we expect of our members. It is also an opportunity to ask questions about our worship life, educational programs, fellowship activities, and opportunities for personal growth and service.

Please contact our pastor or a staff member if you are interested in joining our church. We welcome your questions and look forward to serving you.

New Members

Beth Ann Deemers

blanpic

Beth Ann Demers is the most recent addition to our FUMC Family. Beth joined by Profession of Faith with Rich and Cam Damron standing up for her on Oct. 12th.

You might say the little children led Beth to our church. Having moved here from New York to be with her daughter and grandchildren, Beth began bringing them to the Children’s Activities. So, it was a fitting time to join our church, surrounded by her grandchildren on Children’s Sabbath Day!

Beth also brings to us her gift of graphics which she is currently putting to good use in our 10:45 Worship Service. Look for her work!

Danny & Amy Gribbins

Danny & Amy Gribbins

On August 31, 2008 Danny and Amy Gribbins joined our FUMC family by transferring their membership from a United Methodist church in Lexington. You might have met this couple when they helped with the “Back to School Bash”. School has always been an important part of Danny and Amy’s life. They have raised an adult daughter who lives in Crescent City.

Danny listed the activities that they are involved in as tailgating at UK football games, exercising and gardening. This couple stays very busy. Perhaps they would share some gardening tips with you.

Michael and Kimberly Sowder

Michael and Kimberly Souder joined our FUMC church family on July 13, 2008 by transferring from another denomination. Mike is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking and fishing and more. What he finds so much joy in is flying an airplane and being at the controls in the cockpit. While he is doing that Kimberly is busy with crafts especially cross-stitch. In addition, Mike comes home to a great home-cooked meal because Kimberly enjoys cooking and baking. Together they both enjoy traveling and working in the garden. You might have seen this couple at our VBS for they gave their helping hands in many areas.

Ken and Maria Crowdus Family

Meet the Crowdus Family who joined our FUMC family on May 4, 2008. Ken and Maria joined by transferring their membership from the Lake Magdalene UMC in Tampa, Florida. Three of their four children were baptized into our church family on May 4, 2008.

This is a very close knit family who spends a lot of time doing things together. The six of them are currently exploring their new state, Kentucky. They love to visit all the state parks and hike. They enjoy movies too. The two girls are also busy with cheerleading and Girl Scouts. With children ranging in age from 3 to 14 years, means their house is always full of activities.

The Crowdus family is also bilingual, speaking English and Spanish at all times. Ken is a fine cellist so “someone” will be looking for him!

Charles and Molly Karnes Family

Karnes Family

Charles and Molly Karnes joined our FUMC church family on March 30, 2008 by profession of faith. Their children Samantha, Alex and Zachary were baptized. Charles travels so much family and resting. Molly is very good at being a runner, she just finished the Louisville Marathon of thirteen miles. Both Charles and Molly and support their children in their sports, which are soccer and karate. It keeps them busy going from one to the other. Sometimes they even get a little time to go bowling or see a movie.
